If you're familiar with Hearthstone, this may seem overly complicated in comparison and it only increases from there. The nature of Hex is that there will be cards that break all these basic rules - giving you more mana or putting resources into play from your deck - which is where the fun begins. You can only play one resource a turn and your mana refreshes at the start of each of your turns. In general, cards have a threshold that must be met to be cast - so for example a card may have a cost of five and a red threshold of two, meaning at the most basic level you must have played five resources, two of which were red, to cast it. In turn these resources govern what types of cards can be played, each providing a colour threshold along with its mana.

In Hex, decks are sixty cards, with around a quarter dedicated to resources that are played for free and increase your total mana pool, allowing you to cast more powerful spells. It's similar enough to the genre's most famous forebear that I feel like I'm already intimately familiar with its basic makeup, although it's from an unrelated design team who obviously follow different philosophies that result from Hex's purely digital nature. I've been a Magic: The Gathering player for the last five years and so Hex is a strange game to write about. Here's some thoughts after a few hours of play. While its single player campaign and the MMO portion's dungeons, raids and guilds are yet to materialise, Hex is onto a third set release of cards in a free to play model. Long before Hearthstone made it clear that digital cards were going to be a successful market, the gaming public pitched in two million dollars and change for the MMO/TCG hybrid. The game breaks genre-boundaries and ensures extensive and tactical entertainment.Hex: Shards of Fate was kickstarted successfully in mid-2013, hot on the cardboard-heels of developer Cryptozoic's final set of the physical WoW TCG. In addition, HEX: Shards of Fate offers the unique elements of an RPG, such as PvE campaigns, guilds and customisable Champions. Thanks to the fully digital nature of HEX: Shards of Fate, entirely new game dynamics are made available to TCG fans, making the experience even more varied and strategic. HEX: Shards of Fate combines the challenging and strategic planning of a trading card game (TCG) with the rich depth of a role-playing game (RPG), creating a whole new genre: the RPG-TCG. Chronicles of Entrath: Chapter 2 also increases the level cap in the campaign to 15, unlocking new talents for the existing Mage, Warrior and Cleric classes. During missions, players earn rewards and unlocks upgrades to further bolster the ship.

The ship features its own talent tree with new abilities, and replaces the champion in all battles at sea. The second chapter opens up an innovative naval campaign, as players captain a ship to sail across the Alachian Sea. The campaign dungeons will receive additional challenges for mercenaries with this update.

Each mercenary has a unique power at their disposal, opening up further strategic options to the players. Mercenaries can be collected and traded in the game like items of equipment. Well versed in the art of survival, Rangers show prowess with both melee and ranged skills, enjoying the companionship of their animal pets who support them with powerful abilities. After each battle in the campaign, players now have the option of swapping out their heroes for a mercenary with fixed stats and a specially created deck. Players can enjoy an entirely fresh experience in the campaign with the new Ranger class.

These supplementary characters allow players to bring extra decks into HEX’s dungeons, giving themselves more strategic leeway to react to various game mechanics.

The addition of mercenaries brings entirely new possibilities to the world of Entrath.

Gameforge and developers HEX Entertainment are releasing the latest campaign update to the digital TCG HEX: Shards of Fate. HEX: Shards of Fate has gotten its newest update, Chronicles of Entrath: Chapter 2 from developers Hex Entertainment.
